Install restricted crossing U-turn intersections

Countermeasure ID: 10675

Description: The Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT), also known as a “superstreet” or “J-turn”, is an innovative intersection design that improves safety and operations by changing how minor road traffic crosses or turns left at a major road. The RCUT does not change any of the movements that are possible from the major road. It reduces conflict points by restricting left turns and through movements from the minor approach at the main RCUT intersection. The RCUT design channels the traffic from a minor approach to make a right turn and then a U-turn from the major road, simplifying interactions and minimizing high-risk conflict points.
